What’s gay at the Oscars?
The Imitation Game, a biopic based on Second World War code-breaker Alan Turing, who eventually killed himself after being prosecuted for homosexual acts, nabbed eight Oscar nominations, including best picture, best actor for Benedict Cumberbatch and best actress in a supporting role for Keira Knightley.
Foxcatcher, which some claim has gay undertones, picked up five nods, including best actor for Steve Carell and best supporting actor for Mark Ruffalo.
The most diverse thing about this year’s Oscars ceremony, however, may be gay host Neil Patrick Harris: 2015 is the first year since 1998 that all nominated actors are white.
