Morrissey reveals he has cancer

After being in and out of the hospital for the past 18 months Morrissey has revealed to Spanish newspaper El Mundo that he has cancer but did not elaborate on the type.

“They have scraped cancerous tissues four times already, but whatever. If I die, then I die. And if I don’t, then I don’t,” he said. “Right now I feel good. I am aware that in some of my recent photos I look somewhat unhealthy, but that’s what illness can do. I’m not going to worry about that, I’ll rest when I’m dead.”

The Smiths frontman has been plagued with health issues in the past few years, suffering from a double bout of pneumonia in 2013 and a respiratory infection this year that forced him to cancel his tour.

Morrissey, who doesn’t identify as gay or straight but as a “humansexual,” has expressed his desire to retire from music and is working on his second book, the follow-up to his Penguin Classic Autobiography.
