Gay Men’s Health Summit
How many of you will read this and think it’s a gay group going mountain climbing? It is a summit of sorts, but this one is for overcoming hurdles in life. Drill Night 2
I learned my lesson at Drill Night 1: no Viagra/Redbull mixture too early in the night. I was at full mast all night bumping into everything, including the furniture and damn that can hurt, plus peeing is a manoeuvre that just can’t be explained in words. This time the boys will be out in full force in their camo jockstraps and military gear, and they’re ready to drop and give you eight or more if you’re lucky. Showtunes Fight Night
I’ve tried to sing along here but my craving for half-naked bartenders always seems to get in the way, and even the words on a screen can’t keep me from turning into a drunken, blathering idiot. In my vodka-induced state, I thought they all wanted me. Actually, they all just wanted me to leave. But the restraining order is done and I am allowed back now, so watch for me. Van Pah
Puppy play is back! If I were younger, shorter, and built, I would definitely put on the puppy gear and get down to business with the other pups. Although I’m not sure if the doggie tail butt plug is my forte. I would be afraid of sneezing and shooting it across the bar and hitting one of the PJ’s regulars. This is a mosh, an opportunity for pups and handlers to get together and socialize, play and explore. Come down and have some butt sniffing fun. 2–4pm. Health Show
I love the fall shows, especially the Health Show that also includes a fitness portion where fit jocks demonstrate different ways to move your body and improve your health. You will see some of the most perfect rear ends of your life in that demo, and I can tell you that brings to mind a whole plethora of ways to move my body. With hundreds of displays, demonstrations and speakers there is something for everyone. Plus the eye candy is top notch. Show runs today from 10am–6pm, Sunday 11am–5pm. Prairie Fairies Fowl Supper
I might be paranoid but I think there is a conspiracy against me. Every year I try to go to this event and it always sells out two months ahead and of course I can’t plan that far ahead so I am hooped. This year there are still some tickets available (but I’ll be trolling for dates at the Health Show and let’s face it, sex wins). But grab yourself a ticket and attend one of the most talked about fundraisers of the year. The Fillmore Family Foundation has been doing this for 15 years and they know how to throw a great party while raising lots of money to support our community groups. Nude Dude Yoga
I don’t know what all the fuss is about the new nutscaping fad, where men dangle their balls over pictures of landscapes. Try doing yoga where 30 sets of low hangers are swinging in front of your face every time you do a downward dog. I even made a game of it by trying to recognize who is who just by the shape of their sack. It’s fun and you get an awesome workout — plus if you’re lucky you can pick a pair you really like and strike up a conversation after class. Be aware of your body in an atmosphere of acceptance, in a class led by professional yoga instructors. Just don’t be slapping my dangly bits out of the way. 7–8:30pm. Drums
When I heard that DJ Del Stamp is opening for a night called Drums, I had visions of Del using his penis as a drumstick, which honestly would not surprise me — that thing is a weapon. But Big Roger has brought in DJ Cindel who is called the King of Drums. His signature high-energy mix of fierce vocals and tribal beats is supposed to be legendary. Hershe Bar
I haven’t forgotten you, ladies! It may not be a long weekend, but it’s still a stat day on Nov 11, so Flygirl has you covered. DJ Riki Rocket is back, and Flygirl is excited to welcome UK DJ Nathalie Morel, who has spun the Brit Awards’ official after-party and some Red Bull events. They say they’re also bringing in some amazing dancers to recreate that Coyote Ugly vibe (you know what scene they are thinking about), only less cowboy and more gay-mazing. The Barron Gurl Show
I personally love a good drag show like the old days. The kind where they did more than just lip synch; where they put on a comedy show, performances and fun all rolled up into one great night. This is that night. Isolde N Barron and Carlotta Gurl bring back what Vancouver has been missing. High-energy theatrics, camp, wacky games, theatrical numbers, DJ DomTop and R-rated comedy.
