In the first of a three-part video series, Stephen Lewis is interviewed by local AIDS activist Tim McCaskell. Below is the first part of this series, in which Lewis talks about the criminalization of HIV, what it means for gay men and his work on queer issues here in Canada and Ontario.
“I’ve been somewhat delinquent on my own country and my own province,” he says.
Lewis, who has been involved with the fight against AIDS in Africa for many years, says he is going to spend more time on gay rights issues.
“Around LGBT issues I’m going to give a lot, lot more time both domestically and internationally.”
Xtra will release the second and third part of the series with Lewis in the coming days.
