The story behind an Illinois-based lesbian/feminist choir group

Check out this week’s outstanding queer documentary on OUTtv.

Fri, Dec 14:

Amasong Chorus

Amasong Chorus tells the story of how a lesbian/feminist choir group won acceptance in a traditionally conservative, small town in Illinois in the early 1990s.

The group’s name was a play on the words “amazon” and “song.” “The word amazon conjures up images of strong women who make their own decisions,” says choir founde Kristina Boerger says. “It was a way of coding our group in a certain way.”
