Museum of Vancouver: All Together Now
I have never been one for mainstream events, but this show is right up my alley since it’s about Vancouver collectors and their unconventional collections. From action figures to corsets to toasters and even costumes from the drag group The Bovines. Remember them? Show runs until Sunday, Jan 8, 2017.

Who doesn’t enjoy a good dirty read? Join the Queer Arts Festival tonight for a soiree of erotic readings to get the old juices flowing. This year’s edition of Queerotica is dedicated to writing by queer women, including trans women.

Lyle Chan: An AIDS Activist’s Memoir In Music
This Australian composer gave up music from 1991–1996 to courier AIDS drugs from the US that were unavailable in Australia. Performed by the Acacia Quartet and narrated by Chan himself, the work is a tour-de-force of powerful music, containing portraits of famous activist friends now dead, and unusual effects. East Side Pride
I love East Side Pride as it always falls during my birthday week so it’s like one huge party for me. Plus it gets us all in tune for Vancouver Pride. Held at the site of Vancouver’s historic Stonewall Festival, this alcohol-free event brings out vendors, artisans, community groups, bands, food and of course some of East Van’s top drag performers.

The last time I asked a lesbian if she was going “downtown” I almost got my face slapped. This Downtown has nothing to do with the crotch area; it’s a new way of keeping the dance crowd happy. The DJ plays the music curated by the crowd, so keep the requests coming. You can even make your requests when you purchase tickets. (Adam Dreaddy would be rolling over in his grave at this if he weren’t in Montreal.)

Greek Day
I can just see Del Stamp reading this and booking a three-hour colonic to get ready. But this isn’t that type of Greek, people. Surrey Pride
Surrey is set to make history today with its first Pride parade! The parade will start at Surrey City Hall plaza, then head down University Boulevard to Holland Park, where the annual Pride festival will get underway, with food vendors, entertainment and even a bouncy castle where you may find Barb Snelgrove bobbing around.

Art Salon
Hosted by our own little bundle of energy, Daily Xtra’s Robin Perelle, who will invite you to discuss this question: What needs to change in Vancouver to support, and even celebrate, edgy queer art for social change? Queer History Discussion Night
Sounds more like the old timers sitting around Pumpjack mid-afternoon, trying to out-reminisce each other about the Castle, the Royal or any other gay establishment that is long gone. Mpowerment hopes to pass on knowledge to the younger generation about how far we have come. From remembering a time when homosexuality was illegal, to honouring the folks who spoke up and fought for LGBT rights, this discussion night aims to help us feel more connected to our history.

50 Feet Of Rope
