Dancing On The Edge
In my mind I dance like these pros, but in reality I know I’m more like Elaine on Seinfeld, who always seemed one step away from a seizure. Tonight the 28th annual festival gets underway for 10 nights with more than 30 choreographers and 80 dance artists in venues all around the city. Keep an eye out for Joshua Beamish and Noam Gagnon’s collaboration in “Edge Four” on Monday, July 11 and Wednesday, July 13. For a full schedule of shows, venues and times go to dancingontheedge.org

Straight Outta Oz
Somehow I don’t think we’ll see the hot shower scenes that we all PVR’d Oz the TV series to watch. This is Todrick Hall putting a new twist on the old Dorothy classic, with more than 20 new songs, but no prisoners in sight.

Vancouver Men In Leather Gear Night
You are generally encouraged to wear jocks, latex, leather or some other type of fetish wear at these events, but how embarrassing would it be if you pulled on something an old trick once left behind and he recognizes it? I can tell you, horrifying. Time for me to do some shopping, apparently. Tonight pull out your leather, sports gear, jocks, latex or other fetish wear and catch up with old friends and new acquaintances. Cirque Sensuel
Promoting an event called Cirque Sensual with the phrase “let DJ Del Stamp set the mood” could bring a whole new meaning to sword swallowing. Join Ringmaster Reive Doig, with performances by The Mighty Quinn, Sierra Tasi Baker and more. It’s an evening sure to please even the faint of heart.

Hustla: Summer Slam
Peach Cobblah is in the wrong business: she has the personality and drive to make a fortune as a madame. The bitch never seems to sleep and no matter what party she throws, you know you’re going to see dick at some point in the night. Tonight is no exception. Homo Hip Hop continues with Peach as host, so come sweat your clothes off and don’t let Peach drag you to the makeout corner — that’s not really part of the audition. Youthful Faerie Potluck Picnic
This group is always so cheerful and friendly, even their posters look like a Warner Bros cartoon where Bugs Bunny will jump out of the picnic basket at any time. Not that I will be attending, as they are a group for guys in their mid-30s and younger. But if you are a self-identified man who loves men, and are Faerie adjacent or Fae curious, then this is for you. A picnic in the park to create community for those looking to make a connection with men closer to their age. Please bring a potluck dish and whatever you want to drink.

Victoria Pride Parade And Festival
After a week of festivities, today marks the parade and festival, which could make a great weekend escape for us Vancouverites, and possibly a little out-of-town action on the side. After all, that is one of the perks of Pride weekends in my gay handbook. Both the parade and festival are free events, and the festival will feature vendors, artists, support groups, a beer garden, food, entertainment and more.

Let’s Talk About Sex
Normally I would be horrified to talk about sins of the flesh with a nun. But it’s the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and those gals have done way more trashy things than I could ever hope to do. Tonight they present the All Bodies Safer Package, so guest speakers will be here to educate about the increase in STI transmission in our community. Speakers include Jenn Matsui, Emily Sollows, Michelle Reed and Daily Xtra’s very own Dr Ruth columnist, Kevin Moroso, to show us how to have a safer, fuller sex life.

Women & Queer Night
I’ve always wondered why guy’s bikes have the bar and girls don’t? But that’s not the focus of tonight’s bike workshop. This AMS Bike Co-Op night is to learn all about bike mechanics and how to take care of your equipment. Workshop takes place the second Wednesday of each month for all female-identified and LGBTQ people.

Whitecaps Pride Night
Stop fantasizing about soccer-player scenarios and get out to a stadium full of queers, soccer players and gluteus maximus-hugging shorts as Whitecaps Pride Night takes place with the theme “You have the right to play.” See them take on team Real Salt Lake as BC Place is illuminated with its rainbow lights.
