Steamworks Baths shut down temporarily after the body of a man was found on the Pender Street premises at approximately 10am on Dec 3.
Vancouver police spokesperson Randy Fincham says that the death is not being treated as suspicious and that the investigation has been turned over to the chief coroner’s office.
Steamworks general manager Del Stamp says it’s his understanding the man suffered a heart attack. “There was no foul play suspected; there was nothing suspicious,” Stamp says. “It could have happened anywhere.” He says the bathhouse reopened for business Dec 3.
Xtra is awaiting further information from the coroner’s office.
