Local trans activist weighs-in on Alberta firing

Viviane Namaste, the acclaimed trans professor at Simone de Beauvoir Institute, weighed-in as a special guest on Radio-Canada’s afternoon show yesterday. In light of the recent firing of a trans teacher in Alberta, this was especially relevant.


Dr Namaste has been active on the Montreal activism/academic scene for several years now, previously working with sex trade workers and intravenous drug users at
the needle exchange CACTUS-Montréal and currently teaching women’s studies at the SdB Institute.
