Jim Green sues Jamie Lee Hamilton

Independent city council candidate Jamie Lee Hamilton is being sued by mayoral candidate Jim Green and council candidate Heather Deal.

Hamilton, a well-known transsexual activist and prostitution advocate, announced her candidacy for council on Oct 5 at city hall.

The suit says Hamilton insinuated on her internet blog that Green and Deal, a current parks board commissioner, were having an affair.

“The Plaintiff Green is married, a fact widely known in the community, and amongst the electors of the City of Vancouver. The Plaintiff Deal is in a long-term committed relationship with another person.

“The allegations of an adulterous, or indeed any, sexual relationship now or at anytime in the past between the Plaintiffs are false and untrue,” says the statement of claim, which was filed in BC Supreme Court Oct 4.

At her candidacy announcement, Hamilton denied she had published such allegations on her website.

The statement of claim says the blog site says: “Ms Deal who topped the polls last election has her work cut out if she expects to garner a council seat under the Jim Green team. Under Jim Green indeed.”

Hamilton’s web designer Ryan Warawa is also named in the libel suit.

Hamilton had not filed a statement of defence as of press time.
