Solidarity Vigil With LGBTQ in Egypt
Sometimes it’s easy to forget how good some of us have it in Canada. When images of a concert in Cairo were posted on social media in September showing someone dancing with the rainbow flag, the crackdown was on. Egyptian police claim the people they’ve arrested are homosexuals encouraging immoral acts. Many of those detained have already been sentenced to six years in prison. They are appealing their sentences and need all the support they can get. Take a stand tonight and demand Egyptian authorities protect their LGBT citizens.

Queers, Questing and Testing
This may be the most fun you can have in Vancouver while getting STI/HIV testing done: in between rounds of Smash Bros or Mario Kart, take some time to get tested, and then go play some more. Feel free to bring your own Wii U controllers or 3DS, or any board games you’d like to share. Testing at Mpowerment is free and confidential, and will be first come, first served. It is also a chance to speak with the nurse and learn more about your sexual health.

Up For Three Days
Well, I guess now we know how this man gets so much painting done. John Ferrie, one of the hottest artists in the city, is proud to bring you his new showing, Up For Three Days, featuring overhead visions of BC Ferries headed to the Gulf Islands and Victoria. Each painting expresses his signature humour.

Girls Night Out 2017
Looking for a fun night out with your girlfriends? Enjoy a relaxing and hilarious night of comedy by women for women, featuring stand-up comedians Erica Sigurdson, Julie Kim, Robyn Edwards and Melanie Rose. Downtown Lesbian/Queer Dance Party
Spinning all your favourite top 40 remixes, ’90s throwbacks and house, Skylar Love and Krista are sure to get you moving on the dance floor. A party pal will be hanging out at XY for the majority of the night and will be fully trained to administer naloxone in case of a fentanyl overdose. They will also be available for interventions if you feel unsafe or are receiving unwanted attention.

Union LGBT+ Wedding Show
Planning a big fabulous wedding? Maybe try to outdo yours truly who took the sweetest guy in the world to the Rock of Gibraltar to get married in the room John and Yoko used — he’s British; it was a thing. The second annual Union Show showcases LGBT-friendly wedding professionals in an inclusive and fabulous environment with over 20 vendors and displays, from cake makers to planners. Come get some ideas, meet the pros and make your day super special. I hear there may even be a showdown between Two Guys with Bowties taking on 2 Guys with Knives.

Queer ASL Life Drawing
Join in for an evening of life drawing with two to three models holding poses from two to 30 minutes. Some paper and drawing tools will be available, but artists should bring their own materials and drawing surfaces. A clipboard, drawing board, piece of masonite or a hardcover book would all work well. Portable easels welcome as none are on site. Queer, Deaf, HoH and signing hearing allies all welcome.

Super Hero Halloween
Peach Cobblah, let’s not make the same mistake as last year: Mrs Doubtfire is not a superhero costume. Coconutz & Bananas: Equinox
Vancouver’s first trans club night is gaining momentum. It is an inclusive, safe space for trans, non-binary and gender-bending folks to be visible, be themselves and not be judged. Enjoy performances, DJs and dancing till the wee hours. To make sure their events are as safe as can be, volunteers in pink or red T-shirts who are trained in first aid and naloxone will be circulating both inside and outside the event.

Finally, a good cider afternoon bash. Craft beers are great, but for me the afternoon means cider, or else I need a snooze midway through. This event has everything you need for a full Sunday afternoon: ciders ranging from sweet and fruity to crisp and dry, some of the best craft beers around, pinball, video games, a parking-lot patio, food trucks, chill vibes and vintage tunes spinning. Maybe now I’ll still be awake for the amateur-hour party following.
