Undetectable

Even I like a little anonymity sometimes. I like to go to parties where my desires and I can go undetected, except for the occasional scream or grunt. This party is the perfect place for that type of endeavour. A social play space for just the men in our community. No questions, no judgements, no boundaries. Just good, consensual fun where everyone is there for the same reason: get in, get off, get out. 8pm–1am. Club 8×6, 1775 Haro St. Entry $5–10. 8×6.ca

Text Me Live

Back in the day before there were smartphones, I have to admit it was kind of hot when my boyfriend of the moment would actually talk to guys on the phone as I was slamming him from behind. These days if a guy texts while I’m doing him, I’ll pull out and throw his still-lubed ass to the curb. I’m not sure if that’s what hosts Shanda Leer and Charlee Jem are looking for, but they want you to contact them live during their weekly show via phone, Instagram, snapchat, Facebook or vine, with your questions, requests, critiques or just to hear you moan. 9:30pm. The Emerald, 555 Gore Ave. More info here on Facebook.

Slacks

Little Basket Theatre presents a live, lesbian sitcom about roommates, idiosyncrasies and the challenges of living together while lesbian. Written and directed by Jacqueline Korb, Slacks will present three episodes per night until Saturday, Oct 17. 8–10pm. Havana Restaurant, 1212 Commercial Dr. Tickets $15 at door or brownpapertickets.com. littlebaskettheatre.com

Friday, Oct 16

HUNTR

When I first saw that Adam Dreaddy was presenting something called Hunter, I imagined a reality show based of him hunting through Vancouver’s clubs in search of his next big love. But then I realized they’re not old enough to get in! Turns out he’s bringing the city a fresh new club experience: a monthly night of quality house music for music lovers. No drama, no agenda, no cliques, he says. Neither male nor female, nor straight or gay — just dance. 10pm. XYYVR, 1216 Bute St. Tickets $10 advance at Stratosphere Hair, 1259 Granville St or $14 at door. More info here on Facebook.

Rocky Horror Picture Show

I’ve always wanted to be Dr Frank-N-Furter every Halloween — every fetish night too, if the truth be told — but I’ve never had the legs to pull off the fishnets and some parts of me just don’t fit into the body stocking. So instead I will once again be in the front row, dancing and singing through the show, dressed somewhat like a nerd. Come join me. 11:30pm. The Rio Theatre, 1660 East Broadway. $12 at door. riotheatre.ca/movie/the-rocky-horror-picture-show

Saturday, Oct 17

Tomboy: Hogwarts Halloween Ball

Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin fans are welcome to dress in house colours and meet in the great hall to enjoy a magical evening of music, burlesque and tournaments, as DJs Kasey Riot and She provide the beats. 10pm–3am. The Media Club, 695 Cambie St. Advance tickets $8 at eventbrite.ca or $10 at door. More info here on Facebook.

Noir Fetish Ball

I can get into so much trouble at fetish parties. I’m never sure where to put my hands, let alone my cock, when I meet a new person. There really should be a manual for people like me. But don’t let that deter you! Come enjoy this fetish party. 9pm–2am. Club 8×6, 1775 Haro St. Cover $10-$15. 8×6.ca

Dear Armen

This is the story of a genderqueer writer as they study the life work of Armen Ohanian, an Armenian survivor of the early 20th century anti-Armenian pogroms. “An interactive-theatre experience blending traditional Armenian dance, erotic performance, monologue and live music, Dear Armen weaves together the voices and struggles of three generations of gender nonconforming Armenians.” 8pm. Roundhouse Performance Centre, 181 Roundhouse Mews. Tickets $15–20 advance at eventbrite.com or $20–25 at door. More info at vancouver.gaycities.com/events/561934-dear-armen-in-vancouver.

Come Together

I actually have this on a T-shirt that I used to wear on first dates! It was either a hit or a colossal miss (mostly it was a miss). Tonight it stands for a Queer & Trans Open Mic Night, a monthly event to showcase the talents of queer and trans musicians, poets, spoken word artists and performers. This month is to support an East Van boxer, River Tucker, to help her get to Canadian Olympic trials in Montreal. 7–10pm. Heartwood Community Café, 317 E Broadway St. Entrance is sliding scale $0-10. More info here on Facebook.

Faux Girls

By the end of this month every Tom, Dick and Harry will be dressed as a Faux Girl for Halloween but none will entertain you the way these will at this monthly fundraiser. Join Emperor XLIV Eric Royale and Empress XLIV Babette Co-Taylor as they bring you some of the best entertainment in town. Lots of fun, 50-50 draw, door prizes and more. 10pm–1am, The Junction, 1138 Davie St. $3 donation to the Dogwood Monarchist Society. For info here on Facebook.

(Think there’s an upcoming event I should attend? Click here to list your event on dailyxtra.com or send me a note at oitc.vancouver@dailyxtra.com.)

: Man about town scurrying into every bar, restaurant, nook and cranny looking for all the details to post the events you want to see. Drop me a line if you want your GLBT themed event, meeting, social, gathering, play party, circle jerk, listed online or even if you are one short for your orgy. I always aim to please.....unless its your eye...ouch!!!
