Mother’s Disappointed

Visual Art Forum: Working Artists
Not that I’m stalking Matt Troy, but I always know where he’s going to be. Come on, have you seen that butt? Who could blame me. Tonight said butt will be sitting on stage at this year’s first Working Artists panel. Working Artists is a semi-annual series of lectures and workshops for students and emerging artists. In this session, panellists from a wide variety of artistic disciplines share how they first emerged into their field, with a focus on public engagement and supporting community. The panel presentation will be followed by a moderated Q&A and breakout sessions.

Hogwarts Yule Ball
I may be a bit old for this party, but what a theme it could be for a night at Pumpjack. Long Harry Potter robes and a big, thick magic wand and I’m all set to cast some spells. Tonight is for the younger set, 14 to 25 to be exact, so come wearing your house colours, in casual muggle clothes, or in a ball gown and dress robes, as Qmunity brings you its first Winter Ball. This event is for queer, trans and allied youth and is an alcohol- and drug-free space.

Queens Care 10th Anniversary
This would be a good name for the queens’ retirement home — some of those dolls are getting up there and may need a bit of help. Who wants to sponge-bathe Conni Smudge or spoon-feed Carlotta Gurl? This annual fundraising event, in loving memory of legendary female impersonator Diana Rose and nightlife impresario DJ Jules, has become a not-to-be-missed Vancouver tradition. Expect an evening of glamour, impersonation and comedy celebrating our city’s premiere drag entertainers, co-hosted by Joan-E and Carlotta Gurl.

Launch!
Launch offers inclusive and accessible space for new and seasoned writers, poets, dancers, performers and everyone in between.
