Out in Toronto PrideHouse Edition: July 10–15, 2015

Choice events during the Pan Am Games

As Pan-Am fever takes over Toronto, PrideHouse kicks off with a range of LGBT-friendly events in the city. Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly gathering, looking to sharpen up your dance moves or wanting to learn more about inclusiveness in sports, there’s plenty to do this weekend.

Pump up!

The Pan Am Games are a great time to check out hot athletes, but families have a reason to enjoy the time in Toronto as well. With obstacle courses and races, children and adults alike have something to look forward to — and the splash pad should help beat the summer heat.

Friday, July 10, 10am–1pm. PrideHouse Pavilion, 519 Church Street.

Haus of Pan Am

Get ready for a full day of dance and drag. Hosted by acclaimed choreographer Scott Fordham, who’s worked with everyone from Katy Perry to LL Cool J.

Saturday, July 11, 11am–11pm. Barbara Hall Park, 519 Church Street

Right to Dance: Drop-in Class

Hosted by the extremely talented Ill Nana, Right to Dance boasts classes all day, from hip hop to jazz. All classes are safe spaces for every person in the LGBT community and every level of dancing experience.

Sunday, July 12, 1–5pm. PrideHouse Pavillion, room 301, 519 Church Street.

Canada T-Dance
This all-day, outdoor dance party boasts a bevy of turntable talent, featuring DJ Alain Jackinsky from Montreal, Nick Bertossi from Vancouver and Etienne Osbourne from Vancouver. Toronto DJs include Deko-ze, Jerome Robbins and Ticky Ty.

July 12, 11am–11pm. Barbara Hall Park, 519 Church Street.

Sport Inclusion Summit

PrideHouse Toronto, in conjunction with The 519, hosts an international summit on inclusion in sport. The summit takes place for three days during the Pan Am Games. Grants and travel assistance are available for those who face hurdles to attend.
