Manila Luzon still performing this weekend in Vancouver, despite death of Sahara Davenport

When RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 2 competitor Sahara Davenport passed away unexpectedly yesterday, there were concerns that Sahara’s boyfriend, and Drag Race all-star, Manila Luzon, might not be able to make her scheduled performance at the launch of ICON at Post Modern this week.

But Tommy D, of TFD Presents, has taken to Facebook to announce that Manila will still be coming to town Oct 5:

“Hey Everyone,

As you all know we lost Sahara Davenport last night who was married to Manila Luzon. I’ve had a lot of question regarding this event and have just spoken to her management. As of right now, everything is going ahead as scheduled, and we will be celebrating the LIFE of SAHARA DAVENPORT a true ICON on Friday with Manila Luzon.

I will make sure that our DJ’s also have PUMP WITH ME! on hand Sahara’s great single!”

It’s definitely a sad time, and when you lose someone, it’s important to be surrounded by love. I’m glad Manila knows that’s all Vancouver has for her!

It’ll be a memorable, and honorary, show Friday.

Until then, “Pump with Me”:

UPDATE October 5 2012 from TFD Presents:

It is with extreme sadness that I have to tell you all that Manila will not be able to make to Vancouver this weekend. She had every intention of travelling, but due to the awful circumstances she has decided not to come. Myself, and everyone who is working on this project send her our love.

But as they do, the drag queens have come to the rescue!!!! ICON will now feature not 1…but 2 DRAG RACE STARS. Carmen Carrera & Jiggly Caliente Brooks have stepped up to the plate and are BOTH coming tonight! We would also like to let everyone know that partial proceeds from the night will be donated to the Sahara Davenport funeral fund and we will be collecting donations to send to Sahara’s family.

All tickets for MANILA LUZON will be valid for this evening, and those advance tickets will still work for tomorrow night. There are only 60 left at PRIAPE! Save some money on cover by getting your tickets in advance.
Thank you all so much for understanding, and tonight we are going to launch ICON with a HUGE BANG!
