Introducing Drag Queen Barbie! (yes, really)

For some of you, Barbie was a cherished childhood toy. For others, she belonged to one of your siblings and made for an unwitting torture bottom. Either way, if you haven’t seen a Barbie at this point, something’s wrong here.

Well, despite the fact that Barbie has, and always will be, a plastic over-exaggeration of femininity, Mattel is only now making a Barbie designed after a drag queen! Yes, the Blonds Blond Diamond Barbie, based on drag queen fashion designers Phillipe and David Blond, is making its way to stores and comes with a diamond cocktail dress, a fur coat and a roll of duct tape.

Phillipe and David Blond believe that every woman should be glamorous every day. The platinum designers create scintillating styles for starlets: gem-encrusted bodysuits; crystal corsets; mini-dresses lavishly embellished with stars, chains, spikes, and sequins. Fun fashion and rock & roll glam are the only rules for these gorgeous garments. Our favorite blonde celebrates The Blonds, dressed for an amazing adventure. [via The Barbie Collector]

And in case you thought I was kidding when I called her Drag Queen Barbie: look at the below picture. That is Phillipe Blond on the lefthand side. I think. Maybe he’s on the right? I’ve lost track of these things.
