Back in January, Marc Jacobs’ rep adamantly denied that the famed fashion designer and his beau, Lorenzo Martone, tied the knot on New Year’s Eve in St Barts. Photos of the celebration, of course, suggested otherwise: Jacobs and Martone, dapperly dressed (Jacobs in a white kilt, Martone in suspenders and black dress shorts), standing arm in arm before a lavish three-tiered wedding cake complete with custom-queered his-and-his cake toppers.
In a recent interview with Netherlands-based Butt Magazine, however, Martone affirms that the festivities were indeed marital.
“In the end, we just had an intimate ceremony at a friend’s house with people who were already on the island. Although, the official wedding documents won’t be signed till later this year, so legally we’re not married yet.”
The interview also boasts a triple-x photo spread with the Brazilian PR executive who stole Jacobs’ heart back in 2008 and a candid discussion about cock size — according to Martone, neither he nor Jacobs can “complain.”
Jacobs’ recent fall/winter 2010 Fashion Week runway show has also been making headlines — in particular, his decision to prohibit celebrities from attending. It seems that Jacobs and his business partner, Robert Duffy, are tired of star-saturated front rows and the media blitz that accompanies celebrity-rammed shows. Take last season’s runway extravaganza: Paparazzi swooned when Madonna waltzed in at the last minute; they swooned a second time when a very tardy Lady Gaga finally made it to her seat; and flashbulbs went wild when the superstars struck a pose.
“I think that at that moment in time that’s what people loved,” Duffy tells Style.com. “It generated so much press [but] at a certain point it was like, ‘Did anybody actually watch the show?’”
Moreover, Duffy and Jacobs argue, this cultural fixation on the world of celebrity has gotten “boring.” To that end, Jacobs’ critically acclaimed 2010 collection hammered its way down the runway via 56 models, the majority of whom were unknowns.
In other news, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi — star of contentious MTV reality show Jersey Shore — was recently snapped in the midst of a round of girl-girl tonsil hockey. The backdrop was Virginia Beach nightclub Peabody’s (think frat boys and wet T-shirts); the occasion was a Jersey Shore/Valentine’s Day bash that two local fans snagged Snooki into hosting; and the girl was none other than the bartender.
Perhaps this sapphic spell was inspired by Snooki’s run-in with Katy Perry at the 2010 Grammy Awards (where Snooki did time as a red-carpet reporter on behalf of MTV).
“Did you really kiss a girl?” Snooki asked, referencing Perry’s sugar-fluff 2008 song, I Kissed a Girl.
“Yes, Snooki,” Perry responded, “but I can’t kiss you anymore ’cause I’m engaged.”
Snooki is currently dating bodybuilder/personal trainer Emilio Antonio Masella. ‘Course, the filming of Jersey Shore’s second season is underway — perhaps we’ll see some homo action in the mix when the series premieres this summer.
Speaking of Valentine’s Day, Madonna and boy-toy Jesus Luz spent their shot-through-the-heart festivities at Rio de Janeiro’s grandiose Carnival 2010 — effectively quashing those splitsville rumours.
These days, Madge is working on her second directorial effort, a biopic titled WE, which explores the controversial romance between King Edward VIII and twice-divorced American socialite Wallis Simpson (the affair culminated in Edward’s abdication of the crown; the couple married and became the Duke and Duchess of Windsor). Madonna is co-writing the rom-com with writer/director pal Alek Keshishian (responsible for 1991’s Truth or Dare and the 2006 comedy Love and Other Disasters).
The Queen of Pop is also slated to guest on Jerry Seinfeld’s new NBC reality sitcom, The Marriage Ref (which launches March 4). The premise? Every week, quarrelling couples air their dirty laundry and dissent before the judges’ panel, comprising Seinfeld, Alec Baldwin, Kelly Ripa and a celebrity guest. And that’s when things promise to really get going. Other mouthy on-tap guest judges include Ricky Gervais and Sarah Silverman.
And lastly, while the A-list revelled in its talent at the London-based Brit Awards, Lindsay Lohan was across town hosting iRock4Haiti, a private screening party and Red Cross fundraiser. While various celebrity-cum-reality-show-rejects mingled — including Celebrity Big Brother housemates Lady Sovereign (who came out just before being evicted) and Ekaterina Ivanova (the 21-year-old ex of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood) — Lohan played auctioneer. The lead prize was a seven-night, five-star stay in LA and a VIP night out with LiLo herself. No word yet on the highest bidder, but if we’re to take a cue from Austrian billionaire Richard Lugner, a six-digit number wouldn’t be unlikely.
Each year, the 77-year-old tycoon commissions Hollywood T&A to be his date at the illustrious Vienna Opera Ball (past beloveds-for-hire have included Pamela Anderson, Dita Von Teese, Paris Hilton and Sophia Loren).
This year, Lugner had his eye on Lohan. She accepted his $150,000 offer but somehow managed to miss her flight — LiLo arrived at LAX two hours late and then was unable to pay the $22,000 stall fine demanded by British Airways. Oops.
Oh, and by the way, those rumours — that the relationship between Lohan and on-again-off-again sweetheart Samantha Ronson has become violent — are untrue. Says LiLo via Twitter:
“This is become a bit much*Samantha R never raised a hand to me, I’ve never said she did* Enough is Enough. Focus on other more important world issues.”
Ronson has also taken to Twitter to refute the gossip: “To anyone who perpetuates this rumour accusing me of being violently abusive after @lindsaylohan has denied it: I will take legal action.”
