Dionisio Heiderscheid, otherwise known as DO, is a porn legend.
Unlike some porn performers who get started because they need the quick cash, DO was already a successful fashion model before he began porn in 2007. And, unlike gay-for-pay performers like Ken Ryker and Ryan Idol, DO is a gay man who loves having sex and being in front of the camera.
“I think I am a new generation of character,” DO says. “I embrace sexuality, and I put it out there.” He resides in Argentina with his live-in partner of nine years, but he’s in Los Angeles for a few meetings and photo shoots, including a centrefold for the summer 2015 issue of Playgirl magazine. His OMD line of accessories — short for Oh My Dio — has gathered quite a bit of attention, and his career as a model has shown no signs of slowing down. He’s one of those rare breeds of men who, already devastatingly handsome, only seem to become more attractive with age.
DO retired from porn in 2012, but it wouldn’t be wrong to assume that his clips are still well sought-after. He’s proud of his success (“Super proud!” he says), but being lusted after was never his ambition. “I thought I wanted to be an architect, like my father, like my parents,” he says with a laugh. Sports, and gymnastics were a part of his life and he was well into obtaining a degree in advertising when he became an in-demand model in Buenos Aires. “I was modeling; I was hosting a TV show,” he says. And, after working for Dolce & Gabbana, Etro and Calvin Klein, he decided he needed a change. “That was my 30s,” he says, “And then I said, ‘fuck it.’”
“I needed to try something different. I was tired of myself.” With his family’s blessing and his love for sex, he began to work in gay porn in the United States. He had approval over his co-stars and what he would do — he never participated in fisting, water sports or bareback sex. Performing in porn allowed him to explore and expose his sexual libido.
“I think I was there for the last good period of the industry. We went around the world, filming and shooting beautiful movies with beautiful people,” he says, adding that it’s something that is no longer the case. Before the internet provided an endless stream of content, adult film companies produced films, not just short scenes. “Now the big companies have a lot of competition, because anyone with an HD camera and a hotel room can make a company with a nice website. “After 20 films, a small sum of work that created a very large gay fan base, DO left the adult industry and began a restaurant and wine bar.
When he launched OMD, it was a way to expand his horizons in the fashion industry. He was the line’s sole model in the beginning, but he’s taking the opportunity to broaden his experiences. “I am doing some photography as well. I [started] shooting models for my campaigns, so it feels pretty good.”
For a man who’s had the chance to explore his sexuality, what turns DO on? “A beautiful car turns me on,” he says with a smile. “A big, fat, juicy piece of Argentinean beef turns me on. A Tim Burton movie turns me on. A beautiful tree can turn me on.”
