A letter a father wrote to his gay son has gone viral after being posted on FCKH8.com:
I overheard your phone conversation with Mike last night about your plans to come out to me. The only thing I need you to plan is to bring home OJ and bread after class. We are out, like you now. I’ve known you were gay since you were six. I’ve loved you since you were born.
PS Your mom and I think you and Mike make a cute couple.
Dad
The general consensus seems to be that this dad is winning in the parenting category, and although I’m glad he’s so unfazed by something he’s known intuitively most of his child’s life, if I were the son I’d write him a note back saying, “Get your own OJ and bread, and if you eavesdrop on me while I’m on the phone again I’ll cut a bitch.”
But, you know, to each his own.
