Betty White stands by her gays on Larry King Now

The incomparable Betty White appeared on Larry King Now, where viewers wrote in asking her questions. Among the things her fans are curious about were whether she thinks she would handle fame the same way if she was just starting out now, what role she hopes to be remembered for, and what about show business makes her sad.

Answering the latter, White said that what she finds the saddest is “some of the ingratitude. Some of the people who get to a very good point and they don’t appreciate it. They think it’s coming to them; they think it’s their due. It isn’t. There’s always someone right over there who can do it better.”

One viewer wrote in asking, “What has been the significance of the gay community for your career? And what do you have to say to those against gay people?”

“I don’t care whom you sleep with,” White answered. “It’s ‘What kind of a human being are you?’ I don’t understand [why people are anti-gay]. It’s such a personal private business, and it’s none of mine.”
