Alec Baldwin vs Anderson Cooper, redefines the term ‘queen’

What is with straight celebs redefining gay terms? First Azealia Banks decided that “faggot” isn’t an anti-gay slur, and now Alec Baldwin is insisting that calling someone a “queen” has nothing to do with their sexuality.

It all started last month when Alec tweeted about a DailyMail reporter, George Stark, who dared write that Alec’s wife Hilaria had tweeted all through James Gandolfini’s funeral service.

“I’m going to find you, George Stark, you toxic little queen, and I’m gonna fuck… you… up,” Alec tweeted, followed by: “Id put my foot up your fucking ass George Stark, but I’m sure you’d dig it too much.”

When Anderson Cooper caught wind of this, he tweeted, “”Why does #AlecBaldwin get a pass when he uses gay slurs? If a conservative talked of beating up a “queen” they would be vilified.”

Alec wasn’t having it, and shot back about the recently out CNN anchor,“Anderson Cooper has a job to do. And that job is to try to reinforce his credibility in the gay community after the fact that you couldn’t get him out of the closet for 10 years with a canister of tear gas. Now he’s the sheriff. Now he’s running around writing everybody a ticket!”

Alec also released a statement explaining how what he said wasn’t discriminative because “queen” has nothing to do with sexuality, plus he’s been a gay ally for years so it’s “laughable” to call him homophobic:

“The idea of me calling this guy a ‘queen’ and that being something that people thought is homophobic…a queen to me has a different meaning. It’s somebody who’s just above. It doesn’t have any necessarily sexual connotations. To me a queen…I know women that act queeny, I know men that are straight that act queeny, and I know gay men that act queeny. It doesn’t have to be a definite sexual connotation, or a homophobic connotation. To me those are people who think the rules don’t apply to them. This guy could blatantly lie, I mean blatantly lie about my wife on the internet and there are just no rules that apply to him, but that’s outrageous to me….if what I said offended everybody, that obviously wasn’t my intention. I’m not interested in offending anyone. If homosexuality was an issue for me, I would have moved out of New York years ago. I find that laughable.”

If homosexuality really isn’t an issue for Alec, then why does he feel the need to make derogatory references about it? I have a feeling the real reason he didn’t put his foot up George’s ass isn’t because the reporter would “dig it too much”, but because it’s already in his own mouth.
