Agokwe opening night ticket giveaway

Alright, Vancouver, I’ve got two tickets to give away to the opening night of Agokwe at The Cultch on Monday, Jan 17. If you haven’t grabbed a paper copy of Xtra Vancouver this week, do, and check out Natasha Barsotti’s interview with writer/performer Waawaate Fobister.

So here’s how the contest is going to work: the 14th person to email me at vancouvergayblog@gmail.com with the name of the headlining performer at tonight’s Two Spirit Let’s Hear It Queer Bash Party wins.

Not sure who’s performing? You should be able to find it IN BIG LETTERS here:

And here are some more deets on Agokwe:

Agokwe
Winner of Six Dora Mavor Moore Awards.
A Buddies in Bad Times Theatre production.
Written and performed by Waawaate Fobister.
Directed by Edward Roy.

Running: Jan 17-22, 2011

Agokwe explores unrequited love
between teenaged boys from neighbouring reserves. They meet briefly at a post-hockey-tournament
party where they bashfully confess their desire for each other. However youth, distance and
isolation strive to pull the threads apart when tragedy intervenes.
