Poundcake
Say what you will, but these days I think the best spot in the Village for man candy — especially hot go-go men — is XYYVR, and this monthly night gets my attention every time. Tonight DJ GingerBear Todd shares the decks with the ever-sexy DJ Mumbles, while the Men of Ruff (yes, including Colin) get down and even dirtier than Pride. I know I can always use a good pounding! 9pm–2am. XYYVR, 1216 Bute St. Cover $5 after 10pm. More info on their Facebook page.
Whitney Houston
The old girl is gone but will she’ll live on forever in drag shows across the globe. Showtunes
If you’re like me, and you know you are, then your Pride high has started to fade, your vacation tricks are distant jack-off memories, your Visa bill has arrived and real life has settled back in. Forget all that and get your gay back on with a sing-along night of Broadway showtunes. Half-naked bartenders, Broadway clips on screen, a Cosmo in your hand and soon there will be a number, or a stranger’s hand, in your pocket. 6–9pm. 1181, 1181 Davie St. No cover. More info on their Facebook page.

Okanagan Pride: Unleashed
Is the Okanagan’s LGBT community taking a page from all the pups in training last weekend at the Davie Street Party and the Pride parade? Maybe, but their week of unleashed Pride is all about “full self-expression, unleashed from society’s view of normal, and the freedom to be who you were born to be.” The festivities start with a launch party tonight, a trans march on Aug 11, a golf tournament, a drag competition, a beach festival and more — culminating in the Pride Rally & March on Saturday, Aug 15, followed by a dance party. Think of all the new meat, I mean, friends you could meet. Kelowna is just a few hours away from Vancouver! For more on the events, schedule and tickets go to okanaganpride.com.
Whitecaps FC Pride Night
I would kill to be the towel boy in this sweaty locker room! Game starts at 7pm at BC Place, 777 Pacific Blvd. Tickets $50 at vancouverpride.ca or go to New West Pride’s website for $30 discounted tickets and an invitation to their pre-game pub night from 3–5:30pm at The Hub, 800 Carnarvon St, in New Westminster.
