Andrej Pejic: the girl who has everything

Epicene supermodel Andrej Pejic is the first person to be officially cast in Sofia Coppola’s retelling of the Han Christian Andersen tale of The Little Mermaid.

Pejic, who models both male and female clothes but prefers female pronouns, has ranked 18th on models.com’s top 50 male models list and 98th on FHM’s 100 sexiest women in the world list. She will be playing Sister #4 in what will be Coppola’s sixth feature film.

Pejic’s previous screen work has included a cameo in David Bowie’s “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” alongside Tilda Swinton. She has also appeared in the short film Reason and the historical-drama television series Faith. This will be her first major film.

No word yet on who will play Ariel, but rumours are rife that the role will go to Emma Watson, who previously worked with Coppola on The Bling Ring.
