Paula Deen compares herself to ‘that black football player who recently came out’

Paula Deen is trying to revive her career following the cancellation of her Food Network show over her alleged racism. Her comeback project, Paula Deen Ventures, just secured a $75 million investment, and she is set to open a new restaurant in Tennessee.

While trying to clear her “disgraced” name to People magazine, Paula compared herself to “that black football player who recently came out.” She’s referring to Michael Sam, because this over-the-hill white woman obviously knows exactly what it feels like to be an African-American gay athlete, even though the most black she gets is freely saying “nigger,” the most athletic she gets is unwrapping sticks of butter, and the most gay she gets is looking like an even trashier version of Tammy Faye Baker (RIP, you delicate angel).

“I feel like ‘embattled’ or ‘disgraced’ will always follow my name,” Deen said. “It’s like that black football player who recently came out,” she tells People, referring to NFL prospect Michael Sam. “He said, ‘I just want to be known as a football player. I don’t want to be known as a gay football player.’ I know exactly what he’s saying.”
