Deborah Cox, Martha Wash to perform at WorldPride

Toronto to get a diva-filled summer as Pride Toronto announces first list of WorldPride performers

Pride Toronto has released the first list of performers for WorldPride 2014, which will take place the last week of June.

Judging by the lineup so far, it looks like this year’s Pride is going to be a diva fest. Deborah Cox and everyone’s favourite Weather Girl, Martha Wash, lead the lineup, alongside DJs David Morales and Quentin Harris (both known for their epic diva remixes).

Kicking regular Pride programming up a few notches, the festival is also partnering with a number of other organizations, including the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Inside Out, TD Toronto Jazz Festival, the Art Gallery of Ontario, Ryerson Image Centre, OCAD University, the Gardiner Museum and Buddies in Bad Times Theatre.

In a press release, Kevin Beaulieu, executive director of Pride Toronto, says, “Deborah Cox is an international celebrity and home town favorite who has supported Toronto throughout its bid for WorldPride 2014, and with the support we have received from Toronto’s cultural institutions, it means our pride will be everywhere across the city.”

Beaulieu says this year’s Pride will be “three times larger than the traditional Pride Toronto festival.” That’s a lot of Pride.
