Mayor Rob Ford offered LGBT sensitivity training

PFLAG president wants to sit down with Ford and his mom

Irene Miller, president of Toronto PFLAG, is offering LGBT sensitivity training at Toronto City Hall and has invited Mayor Rob Ford, who allegedly made a gay slur in his “crack video,” to attend. She has also invited Ford and his mom to lunch and says she will pick up the tab.

Toronto PFLAG president Irene Miller wants to have lunch with Mayor Rob Ford and his mother. Miller thinks she could help correct the mayor’s lack of sensitivity around LGBT issues. She is also offering sensitivity training for the mayor and all city councillors.

PFLAG will be facilitating the lunch lessons at city hall in the wake of a video that allegedly shows Ford referring to Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau as a “fag.” The first of the two sessions will be held on Nov 2o at 12:30pm.

Toronto PFLAG is reminding the mayor that he read the proclamation for the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia earlier this year, on May 17.

“Our city is an active participant in the fight against all forms of discrimination and is committed to equal treatment of all people and their right to live with dignity and respect,” read Mayor Ford at the event.

Daily Xtra‘s video interview with Irene Miller at city hall appears above.
