Ts Madison accepts award at first-ever Trans Filmmakers Summit at TIFF 2022

Trans creators discuss representation on screen and behind the camera

At the first-ever Trans Filmmaker Summit at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2022, Ts Madison was honoured with the Barrier Breaker Award for being someone who “actively challenges and disrupts the system, paving the way for the future of trans representation and storytelling.”

Soft director Joseph Amenta moderated the Creators Panel and was joined by the co-director and writer of Any Other Way: The Jackie Shane Story, Lucah Rosenberg-Lee, the director and writer of Something You Said Last Night, Luis De Filippis as well as co-creator and star of Sort Of, Bilal Baig.

Actor Maya Henry moderated the Actors Panel alongside Miyoko Anderson of Soft, Alina Khan, who starred in Joyland, and Carmen Madonia, who played the lead role in Something You Said Last Night.
