Reading series tribute to Jane Rule

Queers gather to read works, pay respect

Local queers filled the Davie Village Cafe to capacity Jan 8 as they came to express their gratitude, respect and love for Jane Rule: the person, the agent of social change and author.

Many who were unable to attend her service on Galiano Island took this opportunity to share their thoughts through poetry, personal anecdotes, spoken word, readings from her books and original songs.

Contributors included: Nadine Chambers, Margo Dunn, Catherine McNeil, Morgan Brayton, Sarah Leavitt, Stephen Emery, Karen X Tulchinksy, Claire Robson, Mary Stephenson, Nancy Richer and Ellen Woodsworth.
