Another closure on Queen West: Big Bop

News comes less than a month after reports that the Cameron House has been put up for sale

The Big Bop is shutting its doors just weeks after another Queen West hotspot broke similar news.

The Big Bop is a three-floor live music venue located at Queen and Bathurst. It has played host to acts that include Estero, Billy Talent and the Misfits. On Dec 9, managers posted a note to the bar’s Myspace asking promoters to book bands for one final show before the lights go out Jan 31.

News of The Big Bop’s demise comes less than a month after reports that another historic hipster joint, the Cameron House, had been put up for sale. The Cameron House has been a hangout for artists and musicians since 1981. The owners are asking $2.9 million for the property, the bar and nine apartments over the pub.
