White supremacists fail to show up to their own Vancouver rally

Hundreds of anti-racist activists stage counter-rally

A proposed white supremacist rally in Vancouver failed to materialize on March 21.

Hundreds of anti-racist activists gathered at the Braid SkyTrain station in New Westminster to counter a planned “Advocates for White Civil Rights” rally. The white pride rally was set to coincide with the International Day for the Elimination of Racism.

Tensions rose when two men passing through the station allegedly spat on one of the anti-racist signs. The men denied accusations that they were affiliated with the white supremacist group.

“I hate all races equally,” said one of the men, as he waited for a train. “But I don’t like gay people, that’s for sure.”
