The Gayest Show Ever airs on OUTtv

A global bite of gay culture

The Gayest Show Ever, produced by Xtra’s publisher, Pink Triangle Press (PTP), is returning to television: it will air on OUTtv on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 11:30pm PT until April 1, 2012.

The half-hour program, hosted by comedian Elvira Kurt, features field interviews and comedy sketches written by Paul Bellini (of The Kids in the Hall Fame). It includes interviews with celebrities such as Cyndi Lauper and John Waters and covers a range of issues: from condom-free sex in porn to the place of male to female transsexuals in the lesbian community.

The Gayest Show Ever won a Rocky Award for Best Pilot in the International Pilots competition at the 2010 Banff World Television Awards. The show aired previously on OUTtv in Canada and has now been sold to the Netherlands and Sweden. OUTtv is co-owned by PTP.

According to TV critic James Bawden, “when a series like The Gayest Show Ever comes along it truly has to deliver. Which it does.”
