Stockholm is making its North American debut at Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre Extra Space. The play was written by Britain’s Bryony Lavery for Frantic Assembly, a company that emphasizes the physicality of theatre.
The process was an eye-opener for Lavery, who wrote the Tony-nominated Frozen.
“It just seemed to me that I had been using five percent of actors’ abilities with their bodies, so it was a joy to me,” Lavery says.
The play looks at an apparently happy couple, but things aren’t what they seem.
Below is a video interview with Lavery, who was recently in Toronto.
Stockholm is directed by Kelly Straughan and produced by Seventh Stage in association with Toronto’s Nightwood Theatre. For more information on the play, click here. Stockholm runs until June 3.
