The GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles brought mega star power to the travelling awards show, with celebrities young and old lining up behind the queer community.
“I can honestly say that I have never been so proud in my entire life,” said Josh Hutcherson, the young star of The Hunger Games.
Hutcherson, who is straight, received the Vanguard Award for his work in co-founding Straight But Not Narrow, an organization that focuses on giving young straight guys a better understanding of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans community.
Cher was also at the ceremony to give her son, Chaz Bono, the Stephen K Kolzak Award for his work promoting equality. She asked for patience as she struggles to use correct pronouns when talking about Chaz. “I was so nervous because my pronouns for my child just jump all over the fucking place.”
Also on hand were Betty White and her co-stars from Hot in Cleveland, to present Modern Family‘s Jesse Tyler Ferguson the Outstanding Comedy Series award.
