The director of Blue is the Warmest Colour responds to the criticism over the lengthy sex scene at the core of the film by the graphic novel’s writer, Julie Maroh.

The film, now playing at the Vancouver International Film Festival, won the Grand Prix at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.
