Boy George on sex, drugs and David Bowie

'I knew I was gay long before Bowie. He just confirmed it'

Boy George, the 1980s cultural icon turned DJ, recently toured Canada. He showed up clear-eyed and open to Vancouver, where he spoke about sex, drugs and love with Xtra‘s Raziel Reid.

“I don’t want to fight with the people I love,” he says.

He talks about David Bowie, who is also back in the spotlight with the release of a new single and video.

“I knew I was gay long before Bowie,” George says. “He just confirmed it.”

In the video interview below, George chats with Reid at Celebrities nightclub in Vancouver.

On occasion, the number of editors and other staff who contribute to a story gets a little unwieldy to give a byline to everyone.
