Big Freedia bounces into Toronto and Montreal

New Orleans sissy bounce queen kicks off Drake Hotel's Pride week

Big Freedia, who has been featured in The New York Times and Vanity Fair for her unique music and fashion style, is playing Toronto’s Drake Hotel on Thursday, June 28.

Known as the queen diva of sissy bounce (a sub-genre of the popular, and very sexual, New Orleans rap music called bounce), Freedia’s hits include “Azz Everywhere,” “Gin in My System” and “Rock Around the Clock.”

“Bounce music is part of us. It’s our heart; it’s where we come from and it won’t change,” Freedia told Xtra’s Elvira Kurt during a previous visit to Toronto. The rest of the interview is available below.
