Puerto Vallarta Pride dates announced

Vallarta Pride grows to a five-day cultural celebration in May

Puerto Vallarta’s annual Pride celebration will expand this year from its traditional weekend to a five-day festival.

Vallarta Pride will take place May 22 to 26, 2014, and will include music festivals, beach parties, fashion shows and a mass commitment ceremony, alongside dozens of activities in local bars and clubs.

Puerto Vallarta — or PVR, as it’s commonly called by tourists — is Mexico’s most famous gay-friendly destination. As well, Pride organizers are highlighting recent gay-rights advancements as a reason to celebrate.

In October, the state of Jalisco, in which PVR is located, approved civil union registrations for same-sex couples, which include inheritance, property and medical rights, among others.

PVR is also the only Mexican destination on The Huffington Post’s Gay Voice’s Top 10 LGBT Honeymoon Destinations.

In June, more than 400 international, Mexican and local businesses catering to the LGBT market are expected to attend the International LGBT Business Expo. The event will be held June 12 to 14 at the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa. Visit lgbtconfex.com for more information.
