Halloween in West Hollywood

WeHo’s annual Carnaval street party draws 500,000

Halloween is often referred to as “gay Christmas,” and in gay villages across North America it’s a boisterous party night. In West Hollywood, organizers bill the annual celebration as “the largest Halloween street party in the world.”

Each year on Halloween night an estimated 500,000 revellers converge on the Santa Monica Boulevard area for the craziest, most eccentric costume creations ever at the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval.

This year Carnaval will take place Thursday, Oct 31 from 6pm to 11pm. Admission is free. The street festival will feature live entertainment and food vendors.

While the massive street party is the main event and draw for WeHo’s Halloween celebration, several of the local hotels, bars and clubs in WeHo also hold events on the weekend and days leading up to the “official gay holiday.”
