Ward 27 roundup

Learn more about the candidates and the issues in the lead-up to the municipal election

With the municipal election drawing ever closer, Ward 27 candidates are vying for your votes.

Most candidates seem to agree that infrastructure planning, land development and proper community support are the most pressing issues in the ward, although Benjamin Dichter contends that lack of communication between councillors and constituents is paramount, stressing that inclusiveness is his major concern.

Public-private partnerships have been getting a lot of attention; all candidates agree that the city should be investigating partnering with private sectors more seriously. Kristyn Wong-Tam notes that these partnerships can help foster affordable housing in the ward, a sentiment she shares with Kamal Ahmed. Rob Wolvin and Dichter both think the city should look to privatizing transit as a way to cut costs.
