The 20th annual AIDS Walk for Life raised more than $360,000, Sep 25. That’s an increase of at least $20,000 gathered on walk day last year. A BC Persons with AIDS Society (BCPWA) spokesperson says there are still some late submissions and corporate donations to add to the final total, but organizers expect to surpass last year’s $387,000 final tally.
As well as more money, participation was up this year, too. About 1,500 people flowed over the starting line in Stanley Park. That’s about 500 more than last year.
“We are absolutely thrilled with the numbers this year,” said BCPWA chair Paul Lewand in a press release. “The community has reaffirmed their commitment to British Columbians living with HIV and AIDS. Everyone involved including community partners, organizers, volunteers and walkers really made this year’s Walk for Life a resounding success.”
