Trial against Brandon McInerney coming to a close

Seventeen-year-old Brandon McInerney’s defence lawyers will reportedly rest their case, in the trial for the 2008 school shooting of Lawrence Fobes King, by the end of the week. Brandon is being tried as an adult for Larry’s murder. Court arguments have focused on motives behind the crime, as there is no dispute that Brandon was the shooter. A police expert on racist groups testified last week that Brandon was influenced by white supremacist ideology. Detectives found swastikas and other Nazi imagery drawn into his schoolbooks. Brandon’s lawyers have argued that, being the product of a violent upbringing, he was unable to cope with Larry’s unwanted sexual advances.
