Toronto police have released the description of a man responsible for a Dec 2 attack and sexual assault against a transgendered sex worker.
The attack happened between 2am and 3:30am, says Toronto Police Det Wendy Leaver. The man offered the victim $60 for sexual services before pulling a six-inch hunting knife and sexually assaulting her.
The victim is 45 years old, Leaver says, and gave police a very detailed description of her attacker.
Leaver says the victim was picked up on the Homewood Ave and Maitland Pl stroll before being taken to the Roxborough St and Mount Pleasant Rd area, where the assault happened.
“We don’t know who he is, but we have a great description,” Leaver tells Xtra. “The mainstream media don’t write about this. Sex workers don’t get a lot of coverage.
“I don’t believe this is the first time this person has done this. We’re very concerned about [trans sex workers]. We really want to catch this guy. No one deserves this. [Sexual assault] is not a workplace injury.”
The attacker is described as male, black, clean-shaven, between 5″11′ and 6″2′, 190 to 210 pounds, wearing a gold necklace and numerous rings.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Toronto Police sex crimes unit at 416-808-7474 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS and Xtra at 416-925-6665.
