Toronto police have discovered the identity of a man who may be another victim of alleged serial killer Bruce McArthur.
After sifting through over 500 tips and systematically eliminating around 70 possible identities, Toronto police say that they now know the man’s name, whose photo was released to the public on March 5.
His identity will be released after police notify his next of kin.
Detective Sergeant Hank Idsinga told reporters on April 11 that while police could charge McArthur without identifying the man, they would first like to find out who he is and confirm that he’s deceased.
Toronto police haven’t revealed where they obtained the photograph, but did say that they believe it was taken after death.
“I’ve never done this and I do it with great hesitation,” Idsinga told reporters during the March 5 press conference when they released the photo. “We need to put a name to this face and bring closure to this man’s loved ones.”
