The board of trustees at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario announced Oct 12 that Alex Munter has accepted an appointment as the hospital’s president and chief executive officer. He will start Nov 7.
Munter will leave his current position as CEO of the Champlain Local Health Integration Network, a government health authority that plans, coordinates and funds 211 healthcare agencies across the region. Munter has been at Champlain for less than a year. He will replace Michel Bilodeau, who announced his retirement in April.
Prior to his appointment to Champlain, Munter worked with the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB) for four years.
During that time, the agency, which serves nearly 3,000 youth and families each month at locations around the city, grew by one third. It expanded many of its programs and launched various initiatives, including an addiction, mental health and primary-care health clinic; a youth mental-health hub; an employment program; and a program to help young offenders turn their lives around.
Munter joined YSB after losing the Ottawa mayoral election in 2006.
