Anti-gay patrons at an Italian restaurant in Kansas City wrote a note praising a waiter for his “excellent” service but called him a fag and said they coudn’t tip him because his sexuality is “an affront to God,” KCTV reports.
The note, which was left on a credit card receipt at Carrabba’s Italian Grill, also states, “Queers do not share in the wealth of GOD, and you will not share in ours. We hope you will see the tip your fag choices made you lose out on, and plan accordingly. It is never too late for GOD’S love, but none shall be spared for fags. May GOD have mercy on you.”
The rapid spread of the news about the incident has led to an outpouring of support for the waiter, with people urging others on social media to show up at the Kansas City restaurant Oct 25. A gay pastor and his partner who had lunch there Oct 24 requested to be seated in the waiter’s section, saying they had come to meet the restaurant’s “celebrity.”
Dr Marvin Baker told KCTV that he is “angry” at the treatment the waiter received, adding that what the customers did “does not represent Christianity.”
According to the report, the waiter and his mother, who also works at the grill, declined to comment for the story, but the restaurant’s management issued a statement saying it supports diversity and “treating everyone with respect.”
