So as election results roll in, it’s beginning to look more and more like Hudak may have shot himself in the foot with that whole “let’s pretend gay kids don’t exist” thing he decided to print on a flyer and hand out to everyone in Ontario. Yeah, it turns out people aren’t too keen on attacking marginalized kids. Who knew?
Now there’s a petition going around calling for Hudak to apologize for the flyers, which sort of defeats the purpose of an apology if you think about it. Honestly, a petition demanding he apologize would do about as much as a mother telling her kid to apologize to another kid for pushing him off the swing. The kid doesn’t understand why he’s wrong. All he understands is that people keep screaming at him and he can shut them up by apologizing. Sorry doesn’t mean jackshit if it’s forced.
I’m not saying Hudak shouldn’t apologize, because he should. He should get down on his knees and beg for forgiveness. But a bunch of people pointing at him and saying “Say you’re sorry!” isn’t going to fix it. If you really wanted to stick it to Hudak, chances are you already did. By not voting for him. By doing that, you tell Hudak and people like him that you will not empower the stupid or the weak or fearful. Send that message, and maybe, if he can pull his head out of his ass, he’ll apologize.
Also, does anybody else get a serious case of the douche chills from him? It’s his face, I swear.
