About a month ago, Honey Maid graham crackers released an ad called “This Is Wholesome,” a commercial celebrating the changing image of what a family could be and the fundamental love that makes them possible. The ad included gay families, interracial families and single parents.
There was just one problem with that: someone was celebrating change and love on the internet! FUCK! So out came the trolls to raise a fuss about how utterly disappointed they were and how they would go with some other graham cracker for their s’more needs.
Most rational people would tell these people to take their complaints, write them down, roll them up reeeeeeeeeal tight, and shove them up their ass. But Honey Maid had a better idea: they took the complaints, wrote them down, rolled them up reeeeeeeeal tight, and . . . created something pretty beautiful with them.
See? That’s a nice lesson! You can’t control what other people throw at you. You can’t control what other people think of you. But you can control how you react to it. And they picked a pretty great way to react to this.
