It’s official: gay marriage is now legal in England and Wales, so break out the Earl Grey and your DVD copies of Ab Fab. London just got gay. Or is it gayer? Eh, I’m sure either one is fine.
According to Gay Star News, the law went into effect at the stroke of midnight on March 29, and gay couples were already lining up to exchange their vows. Chief among them were Peter McGraith and David Cabreza, a couple of 17-year-olds who took the plunge the moment the clock hit midnight.
The wedding, which took place in front of Islington town hall, was cheered on by a crowd of family, friends and gay-rights proponents.
While the couple had plenty of time to celebrate their milestone, they also took a moment to address LGBT people around the world who don’t have the same luxuries as they did, saying, “I would hate to forget that right now there is a long way to go with the LGBT agenda across the world.”
Enjoy the gay marriage, England and Wales! Honestly, it’s a lot like straight marriage, only better, because we have taste.
