Drag for first time in BC legislature

But tiaras and sashes had to come off

Visitors in drag were welcomed for the first time in BC’s legislature on Mar 2, but there was one catch: tiaras, crowns and sashes had to come off.

“We had some trouble getting them into this House, because of some of what I believe to be antiquated rules,” said NDP MLA Spencer Herbert. “But they are here — minus tiaras and sashes.” Herbert said it was a small step to fuller appreciation of the “BC’s great diversity.”
